Sweet fucking Christ, if I wasn’t in a shitstorm at the office I’d write you an essay on the depths of my heterosexuality based on my unrequited love with Anna Chlumsky. However, for now, I’ll just let you look at these photos of her and Mac before he got all wierd.
This girl, this movie, this feeling of butterflies is responsible for who I am today as a person.
Anna Chlumsky (pictured above as Vada Sultenfuss in MY GIRL) was my first serious crush. I wrote letters to her, saw My Girl SIX TIMES in theaters, and played the soundtrack on repeat in carpool (when my mom was driving).
I loved Vada’s spirit. I wanted to be her best friend. I wanted to ride bikes together. I wanted to be Thomas J (right up until that bit with the bees).
I can even recite this poem for you from memory.

All I’m trying to say is how much I enjoy this movie, and this period of my childhood.
