The new plaque honouring Leonard Cohen at the Chelsea Hotel. (via Dr. H)
See here for another Leonard Cohen plaque.
Straight up, real talk. Some homo.
Last year during my “what does it all mean” post-college phase, (Josh in Clueless had one too) my friend Evan turned me on to NEW SKIN FOR THE OLD CEREMONY, by the brilliant Leonard Cohen. In a world of Kanyes, RiRis, GaGas and Lilys this seemed like the perfect antidote to all the other crap I was forcefully listening to.
Let’s back track a sec, because my mom, who is one hip lady, has always loved Leonard Cohen (“I’m Your Man” specifically). I tried to get into him when I was younger, but didn’t have the patience.
Back to present day, I own SONGS FROM A ROOM, DEATH OF A LADIES MAN, and NEW SKIN. NEW SKIN is definitely my favorite for its tone. Although, DEATH OF A LADIES MAN is definitely the record you want to schtup to. ”Don’t Go Home With Your Hard-On” is a sheer classic.
**So, the point of the entry is: The Hotel Chelsea just put up this plaque to commemorate the 75th birthday of Leonard. Happy Birthday, you old heeb!
